The 42nd Air Race Classic makes its third stop this year at the Faribault Municipal Airport, Liz Wall Strohfus Field. The race begins at Sweetwater, Texas, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Women Air Service Pilots, and ends in Fryeburg, Maine. Racing teams consist of at least 2 women pilots, and may include student pilots. Between 50-60 teams racing piston-powered single and multi-engine aircraft will execute high-speed, low-altitude flybys at each stop, including Faribault. This is a VFR race, so weather between Texas and Minnesota will dictate arrival times. Fast aircraft may be expected on June 19, while slower aircraft may pass through June 20-21. Spectators welcome! Racing registration is open until midnight April 1. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities at www.airraceclassic.org/sponsors.htm. If you would like to volunteer to support the ladies at Faribault or any other race stop, go to www.airraceclassic.org/how-to-volunteer.htm.
